Description
Council debated spacing rules, a bed tax, fees and possible sunset clauses for Hudson's 18 existing short-term rentals before a revised ordinance returns for second reading.
Impact summary
New spacing rules could eventually halve short-term rentals in the historic district and make new downtown permits nearly impossible.

Short-Term Rental Regulations
The short-term rental ordinance gets postponed again — to end of October — while staff processes forum feedback. A city survey of neighbors found lots of concerns (noise, parking, maintenance) but only eight people had ever contacted anyone about them, prompting a push for better communication between neighbors and rental owners.
Short-term rental regulation (Chapter 876)
Council is reworking Hudson's short-term rental rules — buffers, fees, inspections, noise detectors — and will look at caps by zoning district instead of by ward, plus input from owners and neighbors.
We'll email you when it's on an upcoming agenda, when it's voted on and when its status changes, at most once a day.
