Civic issues
Topics getting the most attention in Hudson public meetings, ranked by how frequently they come up.
Adopt-a-spot program expansion
The Hudson Beautification Initiative delivered petitions with roughly 425 signatures asking Council to fund expansion of the downtown landscape program — more planting, watering, and maintenance by Public Works. Council members from both parties voiced enthusiasm; funding decisions will come through the budget.
Ellsworth Meadows golf course projects
Two projects will be bid together: extending the Hole 17 retaining wall to stop pond-bank erosion, and turning a low-lying area of the course into a stormwater storage pond to reduce flooding for Nicholson Drive homes.
Veterans Rails to Trails 2 project
TASC Force told council the city's purchase of the old Norfolk Southern right-of-way has the 1.16-mile trail segment taking shape, connecting three parks. The group urged a crushed limestone base layer this fall (~$150,000) and trailheads/spurs to speed up the 2031 completion date.
Senior Transportation Program
The senior van service starts September 2, running Mondays/Wednesdays/Fridays within a six-mile radius of Route 303 and 91, taking seniors to doctors, pharmacies, and stores — van funded through the Hudson Community Foundation.
Gazebo Legacy Project renovation
The city is adding a stair-lift hybrid to the gazebo so wheelchair users can access it without a long ramp. The board approved it but pushed to move the operating button where a wheelchair user can actually reach it, and raised child-safety questions about the lifting mechanism.
Boston Mills Road Trail and park upgrades
Leadership Hudson's Class of 2024 is donating a Hudson letter sign for Veterans Way Park, funded by engraved donor bricks, hoping to install it this fall.
Indoor Ice Rink / Sports Complex Advocacy
Several residents urged the city to pursue an indoor ice rink and sports complex, noting the nearest rinks are 30 minutes away and Hudson kids' skating dollars leave town. One supporter described a Florida public-private partnership model.
