Topics getting the most attention in Hudson public meetings, ranked by how frequently they come up.
New Public Works facility financing
A slate of bond ordinances — including $21 million for the new Public Works facility and $5 million for Fire/EMS renovations — advanced on second reading. Combined with the salt barn and bus garage, this is the City's biggest capital program in years.
Bond package for capital projects (~$52 million)
Council reviewed eight borrowing ordinances totaling over $51 million — covering downtown land, the Public Works building, broadband, Fire/EMS, and smart meters. The Public Works bonds dropped from $31 million to $21 million because the project came in $10 million under budget.
Excess General Fund carryover spending
Council will discuss how to spend the city's excess carryover funds at next week's workshop — staff will propose base items, but council makes the call.
Natural gas aggregation ballot question
The city has no natural gas aggregation program after providers withdrew. Council agreed to put an opt-out program on the November ballot, which would enroll residents automatically with a no-cost opt-out and lock in negotiated rates.
