Historic tile roof replacements on North Main Street
The board declined to let a historic tile roof at 190 N Main be swapped for asphalt shingles, arguing it's a signature feature of the district's block. Members suggested synthetic tile alternatives and floated a compromise for the neighboring building.
Short-Term Rental Regulations
The short-term rental ordinance gets postponed again — to end of October — while staff processes forum feedback. A city survey of neighbors found lots of concerns (noise, parking, maintenance) but only eight people had ever contacted anyone about them, prompting a push for better communication between neighbors and rental owners.
Historic-district window materials
Two cases tested how far the board will go on windows: vinyl was rejected in principle at 126 North Main Street (a site visit was ordered instead), while aluminum-clad Marvin Ultimate replacements were embraced elsewhere in the district. Repair-before-replace remains the guiding rule.
